Once you nave been contacted to attend our agent’s office to start the clearance process of your container, this normally your first port of call.
You will normally be collected from your given address in Jamaica and accompanied by one of our agent’s representatives to Customs House, when attending this interview you will need to have the following documents:
The actual interview takes approx. 30 – 45 minutes, and will determine whether or not any duty is payable.
After the interview you will then be taken back home and await the delivery of your container the next day. However should you want to be present when the container is being stripped, we will again collect you from an appointed address, and taken to container station, where you can witness the customs inspection.
Please note that any customs duty payable is at the discretion of the customs officer and is not influenced by our relevant agents or us.
When arriving in Jamaica, you should request a PD (C27) form, (As it is commonly called), from the customs officer checking your luggage. This in turn is completed and sent or taken to our agents as soon as possible, to enable the clearing process to begin.
This form is very important and is normally required to prevent you paying duty on your goods. It is only valid for 3 months after arrival in Jamaica so prompt action is required.
